Over a hundred thousand credit/debit card details from top banks in SouthEast Asian countries have been leaked online, according to a report from South China Morning Post.

Not just the card numbers, but CVV and PIN numbers have also been leaked.

Countries involved in the breach include Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.

This information was discovered by an India-based cybersecurity startup, Technisanct, who has notified the Computer Emergency Response Team in each country.

“The results are alarming as it seems no one is aware that such a huge volume of payment card details – including the CVV and PIN – are available. Anyone with access to those details could cause financial losses to the owner of the cards”, mentioned CEO Nandakishore Harikumar.

Card holders are advised to activate 2-factor authentication (mobile TAC) as soon as possible.

Individuals whose cards do not require TAC / mobile authentication for transactions to pass through are advised to terminate the cards to avoid any potential loss of money.
