One of Google's largest events this year will be cancelled as a result of the on-going covid-19 outbreak.
Google I/O developer event was due to take place between May 12th to 14th this year.
“Due to concerns around the covid-19, and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre,” explains a Google spokesperson.
Google I/O is typically one of the biggest news events of the year for the company, where new products and updates are announced to the public.
All attendees who had purchased tickets prior to the event will receive a full refund by 13th March, and immediately given the option of buying 2021's tickets.
Google’s cancelation of I/O is the latest in a line of tech events to be scrapped due to the global covid-19 outbreak, following Mobile World Congress and Facebook's F8 developer conference.
