Volt14, a Hong Kong-based nanotech startup raised $955k from its seed funding to boost the development of its high capacity battery material.
The round was led by 500 Durians — the US-based VC firm Startup 500’s Southeast Asia-focused fund.
Volt14 will use the fund to refine its material technology for consistent mass production and back its manufacturing trials with battery cell producers by next month.
Its technology incorporates the use of silicon that can lengthen smartphone batteries up to 85%, and cut 10-15% cost of electric vehicles.
In the competitive space of battery innovation, Volt14 positions itself as battery materials innovator — rather than inventing a new battery.
