Facebook has announced that grey verification badges that appear on pages will no longer be available as of October 30th.
Users who apply to have their pages verified will be presented with an automated message from Facebook that reads:
Thanks for contacting us. We won't be reviewing your verification request for the gray badge at this time as the gray badge is no longer available on Facebook.

According to Facebook, grey badges will be replaced with alternative methods to present page authenticity.
Blue verified badges however, will still remain available on pages, and will not be affected by this change.
It is unclear to why Facebook is removing this feature, but many speculate that users on the platform have been abusing the grey badges to impersonate legitimate brands/companies/people on the platform for fraudulent activities.
