India's HungerBox closes $12 million in Series C funding round — sets to expand its market reach

HungerBox raised $12 million in its Series C funding round with Paytm leading the round among others.

Investors see potential in the startup as it has been serving 10 of the 1 1 biggest companies in India for its tech-based office catering service.

Hungerbox will utilise the fund to expand into 10 more cities in India and tap into the Southeast Asia market.

The basis for its success comes from niching down the food delivery market towards big companies — Hungerbox runs its client's cafeteria and canteen while enabling them to connect with food partners on its app.

“We all talk about the food delivery to consumers, but not many are looking to improve the quality of food and how it is being catered to tens of millions of employees in the country each day...It’s a challenge that has not been addressed well,” said Sandipan Mitra, co-founder and chief executive of HungerBox
