You will be joining as the first DS/ML hire and early leader on a growing data science team and will tackle some of the most challenging and impactful problems that are transforming how people buy groceries every day. Qualifications:

• 5+ years industry experience or PhD with significant contributions to leading-edge research in statistical modeling, segmentation and/or related category management business insights
• Full stack experience engineering and deploying AI/ML powered features into production
• Scrappy yet artful problem solver who leans product-first
• Excellent communicator who can explain expert subject matter to a diverse audience

About the role

As the first data scientist at Vori, you will have the opportunity to build and shape a data engine that distills supply chain complexities into unique insights and features that empower food businesses in every community. This is an unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge ML research and applications to an industry that has received little to no attention from technology. There's an open field that awaits your ideas and expertise.

You will tackle radically unique and challenging problem sets that encourage you to grow as a data science leader, teammate and community member. Every complex data problem you solve will have a direct impact on how families are fed and grocery businesses are built as well as empower a new generation of food entrepreneurs with data, ushering in a more creative and sustainable future.

Next 6 months:

• Define and implement various AI/ML powered features such as predictive forecasting models
• Derive and share novel insights to guide business and product development
• Improve and engineer new data pipelines to and from external systems
• Develop internal and external business intelligence dashboards
• Develop both the long-term vision and strategy for the data team and manage day-to-day operations
