At Odys Aviation, we’re building advanced vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for major airlines. This will cut travel time in half on the world’s busiest routes by using city helipads and local airports. More than 40% of all flights are less than 1,000 miles - let’s skip the airport and make these routes sustainable. Check out our intro video and in Techcrunch.

We’re a team of expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace working to remove the hassles of flying and reduce CO2 emissions for travelers globally. Previously, our team has built and flown custom drones. We’ve brought multiple automotive platforms into production. We’ve electrified transportation vehicles that magnetically levitate, that roll, that fly. Together, we’ve been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge our entire lives.

The team at Odys Aviation is looking to hire a test engineer to support rapid development of test rigs and test articles, data acquisition and test reports to aid with next prototype aircraft and future iterations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop test solutions for in-house developed avionics & flight hardware products
  • Work with mechanical & electrical design engineers to identify test rig requirements
  • Identify appropriate sensors, signal instrumentation circuits and NI interface modules
  • Assemble the test setup including mechanical fixtures, cable routing, electrical sensor kits and NI instrumentation hardware and perform calibration & characterization tests
  • Write Labview programs, interface with flexlogger & setup data recording systems
  • Design and implement the safety circuit used for operational safety of test rigs
  • Implement Labview HIL setup for our avionics & powertrain test rigs
  • Generate professional documentation for test rig requirements, test matrices & test reports
  • Organizing & maintaining the test area and hardware setup
  • Performing tests on aircraft components, sub-assemblies and full aircrafts
  • Support wind tunnel testing and small-scale wind tunnel development
  • Responsible to coordinate with test vendors for material, components and assembly level tests

Your Background Should Be:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in electrical or embedded computing/systems engineering
  • High competence in NI LabView, HIL systems
  • Experience with test rig design, assembly, sensor installation, calibration and data acquisition
  • Experience in High Voltage test rig design and powertrain testing
  • Experience in electrical protection circuit design (pre-charge circuits, fuse selection, external bulk capacitors, E-stop circuits)
  • Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical design principles
  • Experience with test equipment & measurement techniques to verify & validate requirements
  • Understanding of metrology, sources of measurement error, and uncertainty analysis
  • Experience in analyzing circuits and developing functional test plans
  • Experience in Simulink, Matlab, AutoCAD-E, NX
  • Experience in wind tunnel and aircraft ground testing
  • Experience in more electric & hybrid aircraft powertrains
  • Ability to travel to vendors for testing and test site support
