Technical Writer

OVERVIEW:

Vendease is in the business of fast-moving consumer goods and e-procurement for B2B clients in Nigeria.

About the Role: We are looking for a talented and qualified technical writer who understands and is able to write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience. You will be able to document APIs, patents, architecture and improve the knowledge base across product development levels.

What you’ll be doing: Write API documentation for API users, such as API reference docs and developer guides. Develop and use all types of content types (workflows / process schematics / instructional videos / developer consoles) to simplify the user’s understanding of the Open API’s. Produce clear and concise documentation in simple and easy-to-read English; Explore and build solutions to automate and actively optimise our documentations Review, challenge and copyedit technical content and advocate best practices in technical writing across the organisation. Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration Work with the tech team leads and technology subject matter experts to review, modify, and revise complex documentation for all departments, employees, and audiences. Assess and evaluate the user and employee needs and level of knowledge relevant to technical documentation. Interpret complex software/product features and functions and translate them into a concise, relevant, and readable format. Collaborate with the product designs and dev. team to study product samples and make instructions easier to comprehend. Proofread and edit content created by team members and other writing staff. Integrate user-friendly content in illustrations, graphs, and infographics for enhanced user experience. Write, review, and organize online help content to facilitate end-users. Select and adopt a uniform writing style across all media and other platforms for consistency within and outside the organization. Indulge in user research for feedback, revisions, and improvement in technical content.

Requirements: Bachelor degree in computer science, technical writing, core sciences or equivalent experience. Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in technical documentation, and / or developer outreach / technology partner management roles. Knowledge of tools such as Jekyll, Wordpress, Adobe Framemaker, Oxygen XML author, Lucid Chart, Visio is a must. Experience using Git to manage asynchronous collaboration across large teams Experience with authoring documentation in Markdown is core. Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger Knowledge of REST APIs is a must. Experience with programming to enable sample code will require experience, especially around core web technologies such as Python / Javascript / JSON / HTML required. Demonstrate experience in writing and proofreading of content, especially technology related content. Great communication skills and ability to work well with others.
