Shelf Engine is searching for a talented Software Engineering Manager to join our growing team and report directly to our CTO. In this role, you will build and lead a team of engineers that will help design, implement and operate back-end and front-end features of our product, focused on areas including data systems, machine learning, internal company tooling, infrastructure, and scalability. In this role, you will recruit, retain and coach software engineers to innovate, execute, deliver and grow to their peak performance. You’ll also have the data engineering function (team of 1) reporting to you. You will communicate proactively and effectively to different kinds of audiences, including executives and non-technical stakeholders, in addition to the technology teams.

This position is based in Seattle, WA or remote.

As a Software Engineering Manager at Shelf Engine, you will:

Review team's designs and provide feedback on deployment safety, resilience, scale, performance, and security Lead and facilitate cross-team interactions, communication, and dependencies Ensure the team strikes a good balance between building and shipping product features to drive the business forward, reliability, and managing technical debt Ensure deployment plans are well-considered and include appropriate scalability and load tests Participate in leadership on both the technical team with your peers in product management and data science, and also at the company level as a member of the Leadership Team. What we are looking for in a candidate
