The backend software engineer role at Welcome encompasses architecture, software design, implementation, and testing to ensure we build and release products in a way that upholds the luxury quality of our brand.
Responsibilities
- Be part of an inclusive, collaborative team that embraces healthy discussions and supports each other in their goals
- Architect, design, implement, test, and deliver robust and delightful products, continuing to keep the Welcome experience best-in-class.
- Master our development process, culture, and code base, then improve it. Continually leave each of these in a better state than when you found
Basic Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Deep experience with at least one object oriented programming language (Java, Javascript, C++, C#, Ruby, Python, et al.) and corresponding web framework (Spring, Express, Rails, Django, et al.). Our backend is built in Ruby on Rails
- Solid understanding of SQL databases and relational database schema design
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Requirements
- Solid understanding of web technologies, such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and JSON. Our frontend is built in React.js and Redux
- Experience building highly concurrent and scalable web applications, understanding of application and database performance, instrumentation, and monitoring
