About the role
We’re looking for a software engineer to help us build the technology powering our exchange and front-end experience. As the first engineer, you will have enormous impact on our product, a sizeable equity stake in the company, and the opportunity to help shape our strategy and culture. As our first market is sports, being a fan (of any sport really) is a plus!
What you’ll do
- Develop, improve, and maintain the engine that undergirds our exchange. This includes tools for detecting and prohibiting market manipulation, KYC/AML for market surveillance, and optimizing trade execution speed and liquidity.
- Enhance our front-end experience by improving current products and ideating/implementing exciting new features.
- Monitor and scale our critical infrastructure to ensure consistent market uptime in-line with regulatory requirements.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in the full software development lifecycle.
Our technology stack
- React/NextJS
- Golang/gRPC
- AWS
The right candidate will have:
- At least 2 years of full-time professional software engineering experience
- Experience with RPC frameworks (preferably gRPC)
- Some experience with AWS
- Some familiarity with React
- Independence and willingness to take ownership of products
Nice to haves:
- Being a fan of sports (Miami Heat fans, however, will be subject to greater scrutiny)
- Experience building an investment product (Robinhood, Coinbase, etc.)
Benefits
- Competitive salary, bonuses, and a meaningful equity stake
- Hybrid work with fully remote option
- Office in NYC near Grand Central (with a free gym!)
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Unlimited PTO/vacation days
- Team events at professional sports games!
About Us
Railbird is building a federally regulated futures exchange for predictions. We differentiate ourselves by being vertically-focused; for our first product offering, we plan to list contracts for users to trade on the performance of sports teams and players. We’re backed by investors spanning funds like Tribe and Soma Capital, sports entities including NBA and MLB teams, and angels like the CEO of SeatGeek and the head of product at NBA Top Shot.
At Railbird, you’ll be working with two founders with robust experience in financial markets and sports teams. Miles was an investment research analyst at Point72 covering the fintech and gaming sectors. Before that, he was a data scientist at the Orlando Magic, where he built machine learning models to assist with scouting and in-game play. Eddie was an investment research analyst at Point72 covering the fintech, internet, and business services sectors.
