The Role:

An opportunity to join the team responsible for the reliability and resiliency of one of the newest US stock exchanges. You’ll be learning about interesting problems around critical high-performing, low-latency distributed systems while trying to improve the capital markets.

In this role you’ll design, build and operate key infrastructure as it relates to the trading platform, while also having an opportunity to gain insights and learn how markets work from the inside. You’ll own deployment pipelines, monitoring, and capacity and performance of the systems as you become increasingly responsible for a highly regulated piece of core financial infrastructure.

You Are:

  • Experienced in designing and operating distributed systems in production, ideally with exposure to event-driven systems.
  • Capable of and excited by designing capacity and performance engineering plans for high-performance low-latency systems.
  • Experienced in systems-level software development.
  • Experienced operating systems with strict regulatory or information security compliance requirements.
  • Able to find eloquent technical solutions accounting for competing requirements from areas of concern such as the business, the rule book, regulatory requirements, and information security.
  • Comfortable becoming the domain expert who’s sought out by others.
  • Knowledgeable in learning from how complex systems fail and want to help own and iterate on our incident management and learning review processes.
  • A great communicator who loves explaining complex concepts and understands the importance of good documentation.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in software or scripting languages (Python 3, golang, and Bash are preferred).
  • Been responsible for production systems including incident management.
  • Expert knowledge of Linux and system administration, including networking.
  • Experience automating away systems, processes, and toil.
  • Production systems experience with regulated systems (financial, health, fintech, etc).
  • Built and supported systems on top of GCP’s offerings.
  • An understanding of the challenges in bringing observability (o11y) to complex distributed systems.

Nice to haves:

  • You are curious and practice operating with a beginner's mindset.
  • You enjoy reasoning through complex problems that arise from complex systems.
  • You already embrace Lean Startup methodology, experimentation, and feedback-oriented development.

Benefits include:

  • People. Work in a mission-based company with skilled committed, and supportive teammates who share your desire to create a new kind of public market, and have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • A commitment to a sustainable work environment, including an unlimited vacation policy that requires team members to take a minimum of three weeks of vacation per year.
  • 401k.
  • Cell phone reimbursement.
  • Computer and home office setup.
