The Role
This position is based in Santa Monica or Los Angeles, as the next phase of the company is a heavy, in person design phase where leadership will be centralized. We expect this to be 2-3 days in the office, especially during the heavy design phases. There is opportunity to work completely remote, certainly for stints at a time in far away places.
Responsibilities
Product Engineering - Work closely with the engineering and product team to plan, architect, and implement features across our core product. You'll partner especially closely with the design team, collaborating on UX direction and executing on an aligned vision.
Technical Leadership - Employ software engineering best practices to ensure that our codebase remains well-tested and bug-free as possible. As an early engineer, you’ll have a prominent voice in engineering, design, and company decisions impacting the overall direction of the company, every single day.
Customer Success - Work closely with Customer Success to ensure our customers are successful, happy, and engaged. You'll work to understand their workflows and pain points, and always be looking for opportunities to improve their experience and make their jobs easier.
Team and Culture - You will be an active part of maintaining and growing the company culture- we work hard so we can play hard. You will be an active part of Gigwell's outreach to recruit and mentor new team members, cultivating a positive, inclusive and collaborative work environment where we lift each other up.
Who We're Looking For
Startup Life - You've worked in a fast-paced startup environment with limited resources in the past and are excited to do it again.
Proven Experience - 5+ years of professional software experience, including meaningful experience in front-end web development. You've built complex user interfaces, worked with internal APIs, and shipped to real customers on a regular basis. You have a penance for maintaining clean code bases, documentation, and setup instructions that helps the next person pickup where you left off.
Solid Grasp of Modern Technologies - Solid understanding of JavaScript, DOM, Web Components, and CSS. You've used React, Vue, Angular or similar UI framework in a production environment, and know your way around modern CSS concepts. You have deployed applications using modern technologies like Elasticsearch or GraphQL.
A Product Focused Mindset - At Gigwell, everyone has a daily impact on the products. We expect you to challenge yourself to make sure what you're working on directly impacts revenue, retains customers, or creates delightful experiences.
Solution Oriented - You're good at understanding and breaking down complex problems into actionable work that solves the core problems. You are resourceful and comfortable with ambiguity, and can make good decisions and forward progress even when requirements are unclear.
Extra Credit
Design Chops - You've worked with wire-framing or prototyping software like Sketch, Figma, Balsamiq.
Mobile Apps - You've shipped mobile apps, especially SPA or hybrid apps.
Leadership - You have experience mentoring fellow team members and are considered a leader among your peers.
Artist, Musician, Touring Talent - If you've played in a band, traveled on tour, or otherwise cut your teeth in the Live Entertainment industry, you understand the pain of broken processes, and we want to talk!
