Senior Data Scientist

The Role

The Senior Data Scientist will work closely with the CTO to build the core data platform at the heart of the company’s drug discovery engine. You will analyze massive multimodal datasets to drive new biological insights on disease mechanisms and discover small molecules to create a new category of therapies. You will build proprietary databases by integrating complex and multimodal large datasets and apply data mining and machine learning techniques to drive insights and discover new therapies. You will work with clinical team members to design bioinformatics and data processing strategies for clinical trials and develop an automated bioinformatics infrastructure to store and manage data from thousands of samples.

Who We’re Looking For

• You have a Masters or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Physics or closely related disciplines and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• You have excellent coding skills. You are fluent in Python, the Python data science ecosystem (pandas, numpy, and data visualization toolkits), know your way around SQL and the shell, and keep your code in Git or an equivalent DCVS.
• You have strong data science skills, including thorough experience with Python data packages, classical machine learning libraries and deep learning frameworks, and data visualization. You’ve mastered several statistical methods, or supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms.
• You have experience working in a cloud computing environment and are familiar with cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, containerization technologies (e.g., Docker), and interactive notebooks (e.g,. Jupyter).
• You are excited by how data can help develop better therapeutics. You have a basic understanding of or excited to learn about the therapeutics development cycle. You are passionate about having an impact on patients.
• You are mission driven. You like to see immediate impact on patients, want to have an impact on the team and the company, like to get your hands dirty, and are happy to go above and beyond.
• You are flexible and organized. You’re detail oriented, you always document code and use version control, and enjoy working in a dynamic remote environment, with regular opportunities to convene in-person.
• You are entrepreneurial and collaborative. You are able to self-manage, tackle challenges, and are a great communicator, both verbal and written.

Bonus points:

• You have thorough knowledge of microbiology.
• You are a proficient frontend engineer (Javascript) or visualization expert, or you code in R.
