Sales Engineer

OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Sales Engineer to join our newly founded Sales Engineering team. In this role, you’ll architect complex solutions for our customers, dive deep into complex technical issues spanning multiple teams, collaborate closely with the product org on roadmap and product design, and sell alongside our AEs.

You will do deep discovery into our customers’ technical, financial, and operations needs then use this to help design their solutions in conjunction with their engineering and product teams. This will involve whiteboarding (virtual and in person where possible), building out detailed solution design documents, and guiding their development plans. You’ll help prospects evaluate Modern Treasury by answering their most complex questions as well as helping them shape their framework for technical evaluations.

Modern Treasury sales engineers are trusted advisors to companies evaluating, scoping, and implementing our products.

Internally you’ll be the technical voice of the customer and should be constantly both learning and teaching about our products. You’ll develop a broad understanding of our customers’ cross product needs and use this unique perspective to provide feedback to the product org on roadmap planning and product design. You’ll teach AEs about the value our products deliver to customer to help them position it better.

We’re looking for someone who has experience with REST API based solution design, has some degree of experience writing code themselves, and either knows or is interested in learning payment systems, finance processes, and accounting fundamentals.

As an early member of our SE team you’ll also have a key role in shaping our processes, tools, and strategy.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of customer facing technical roles

• Experience with REST API based solution design

• Desire to get your hands dirty digging into technical issues

• Self driven learner. You’ll write more enablement material than you’ll read

• Finance and/or accounting knowledge is a nice to have

WEEK BY WEEK

During your first week you will:

• Onboard with our team

• Develop an understanding of our customers and our products

• Start to listen to customer calls

• Get to know the product teams

During your first six weeks you will:

• Spend a lot of time reading API docs

• Build your own applications against MT APIs

• Start to build out solution designs for customers

• Start to join customer calls, first shadowing, but leading by week six

During your first six months you will:

• Take your first prospects from initial design through launch

• Become an internal expert on our products, answering questions for every customer facing team 

• Build out the processes, knowledge base, and collateral that will shape the future of the SE team
