Union54 is a Y-Combinator backed fintech operating in Africa with a geographically distributed employee base.
We're looking for a QA Lead to help set-up the overall testing strategy and build out a world-class QA team of manual and automated test engineers. At this early stage, it will be a hands-on role, but we're looking for someone who can recruit and train a team and step back into a supervisory role in time. However, overall vision and passion to drive to the end-state of the team is vitally important.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- taking user stories, translating into Gherkin acceptance criteria (AC) and creating and storing test cases to be used by the engineering and QA team in the most appropriate tools.
- Detailing both test cases and ACs within Jira tickets and then using those ACs and test cases, personally and across the team, to perform manual QA and automated QA on the features produced by the engineering team using tools such as Postman to make API calls and Cypress for automated QA.
- Ensuring a robust regression suite and regression test process exists both for manual and QA teams to be used prior to releases, and to manage the QA resources to achieve all testing, functional and regression within the release timeframes.
+To flag any issues and blockers to the CTO which put a quality release in jeopardy in good time to allow remedial action to be taken without jeopardising release deadlines.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have a strong technical background and be comfortable working with a TS/JS codebase. Due to the start-up nature of the business, this role will operate within a fast-moving environment, with rapidly changing requirements and features, so the ability to work and think quickly, whilst ensuring a high quality product is delivered to users will be paramount.

5+ years experience with test strategy, planning and QA team management

5+ years experience in test automation, including writing tests for Cypress, Jest and Mocha using JS / TS

5+ years experience in manual testing, functional and regression.

- An understanding and ideally experience of the card payments industry
- Professional level written and verbal English
