Overview

As a QA Engineer of the Valari team, you will help our team to release faster and more confidently. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in the release process for our main application and services. You will help us build our repository of test coverage, and user flows and assist with making automated test cases for the most critical user flows. This role has a high impact on the accuracy and velocity of our team, and your contributions will help our team move faster.

Valari is building a unified platform to enable any organization to offer a bank’s financial services to their end customers in LatAm. Our APIs, SDKs, and Dashboards are the tools we provide to manage the relationship between any tech company and a regulated bank.

Your contributions will sit at the core of our Onboarding, Transfers, and Management flows. There are many challenges when building a product focused on financial services, Even though our goal is to move fast we need to make sure the quality and user experience are class. About Us

Valari is a technology company that operates in a highly fragmented market that is ripe for disruption. While in the US, there are more than 5000 banks, in Mexico there are less than 80 fully regulated banks. We have a partnership with a nationally chartered bank in Mexico, which allows us to provide a platform for any organization to issue debit, credit, investment, and insurance products to their end customers.

Our customers range from B2B software companies, marketplaces, neo banks, and consumer applications. By partnering with Valari they can quickly launch embedded financial products such as bank accounts, cards, payments, and lending to their users. Our customers own the user experience and have little regulatory overhead while generating revenue for the transactions they initiate in our platform, and by embedding financial workflows directly in their product they can form deeper ties with their customers.

What are the responsibilities of the role

• Manual and automated testing of web applications and API services
• Developing and maintaining test plans and test cases
• Writing and executing test scripts
• Identifying and reporting software defects
• Debugging and troubleshooting issues
• Participating in Sprint Planning and Review to review tasks and prioritize important regressions.
• Working closely with development teams to ensure high-quality software releases
• Working with Agile methodologies and tools
• Creating and maintaining test documentation
• Participating in code reviews and providing feedback to developers
• Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks in Javascript, specifically Jest, Superagent, and Playwright.
• Knowledge of software testing best practices and industry standards

What do you need to excel in this role

• Demonstrated technical ability building with Javascript, preferably with React, Typescript, and Next.js
• Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, with team members distributed across the world.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate product requirements into detailed milestones and sprints to deliver projects on time. We are a company focused in Latin America but our engineering team operates 100% in English.

You’re a great fit if you have

• Experience working at the intersection of Product and Engineering, where you have demonstrated the ability to plan, execute, and deliver cross-functional products.
• Experience building publishable client-side SDKs in Javascript, iOS, Java, or Kotlin.
• Previous experience from a start-up or fintech environment.
• Understanding of financial services infrastructure, payment networks, and the importance of compliance and fraud prevention.

What does the interview process look like

We do a 30-minute phone call to learn about your background and answer any questions you have about the role. Then, we follow with a system design interview, where you work together with some of our team members to design a scalable solution and have a chance to work collaboratively with someone in our team. Finally, there is a behavioral interview so you can meet our CEO and ask anything that’s on your mind.
