Principal Engineer

We leverage our technical expertise in software development and industry knowledge of structures, advanced analysis, and applied science & research to deliver unrivaled, innovative solutions that drive superior performance. In addition, we use our proprietary cloud-based software to provide structural engineering services focusing on new design and evaluating existing single-family and residential buildings.

Our Structural Engineering team is currently looking to hire a Principal Engineer in our remote-first company. We are looking for a highly-skilled structural engineer with a demonstrated history of success working on ground-up or existing residential projects in California. As a Principal, you are one of the leaders of our firm, effectively managing multiple project teams and providing technical expertise on discipline-specific projects/project elements.

Responsibilities

• Delivering design, specifications, plans, reports, and project execution within the approved schedule and budget.

• Coordinating, reviewing, and completing construction documents and reports as the Engineer of record while demonstrating competency in all project phases (planning, design, construction, etc).

• Providing overall project oversight to engineers and coordinating work with architects and contractors by leading projects; assuring proper practices and techniques.

• Supervising, mentoring, and stewarding the technical development of the staff engineers while offering technical training for assigned projects.

• Evaluating successes, challenges, and lessons learned during implementation and at the completion of every project.

• Participating in business development efforts in collaboration with the Marketing/Sales team, developing and maintaining client relationships.

• Conferring with project team members and clients to collaborate on project proposals and interviews.

• Actively using TANGObuilder platform and helping to develop the core structural engineering procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• MS in Structural Engineering.

• California PE or SE license.

• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the structural/seismic field.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience actively managing projects in the California residential market or seismic upgrade of existing buildings.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience managing technical staff.

• Outstanding prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with Python, and Gitlab.
