Here are some things you’ll do on the job:
- You’ll report to me, the guy who’s writing this (Trevor McKendrick, CEO/cofounder). Much of your work will be for me, but you’ll also be in charge of our brand new office & help out my cofounder/CTO Joshua Howland.
- Organize & tag my personal CRM, including any notes & follow up needs after recruiting meetings, investor meetings, etc.
- Manage all logistics at our new office: working with our lunch caterer, greeting visitors, getting packages, dealing with the landlord, etc
- Writing and preparing thank you notes
- Sending gifts to recruits, visitors, employees, investors, etc.
- Booking travel & (on rare occasions) meetings
- Running our swag shop
- Booking dinner reservations
- Preparing guest lists & managing private group dinners
- Organizing & running our annual Christmas party
- Create weekly reporting on how I use my time
- Organize links for the weekly first draft of my weekly newsletter
- Do a first draft design of Seis soccer jerseys on the plug & play Adidas website
- Running errands for myself & other team members
- Making sure the office is clean (we have janitorial that will handle 90% of this, but this means making sure the janitors know anything specific we need them to cover, and also includes occasionally washing dishes)
- Run occasional personal errands
You’ll know you’re successful when:
- You give me & Seis leverage on our network - you help me handle the logistics of meeting more people, and keeping previously established relationships warm
- This is the highest ROI thing you will do for Seis, and is what made me decide to hire for this role (we run a tight ship & don’t create new JD’s lightly)
- You make everyone who ever interacts with Seis feel like we’re thoughtful, attentive, and worth remembering. They all feel taken care of by Seis.
- You give me & Seis leverage on our network - you help me handle the logistics of meeting more people, and keeping previously established relationships warm
- Nobody else @ Seis ever has to think about any logistics at the office.
Your role could be broken up into these types of tasks:
- Things I currently do that I want to hand off to you
- Things I wish I was doing that I don’t have bandwidth for
- Doing new things that no one is doing yet
- Starting things that only I can do, and getting them as far as you can before giving them to me to finish. This includes scheduling & blocking out the time I need to complete these things.
About you
- If you have a background in tech that’s fine but it’s absolutely not necessary. You also do not have to be able to speak Spanish.
- You’re detail oriented: you love making a task list and checking items off your todo list
- You bring energy & excitement to any room
- You’re a quick study on modern software tools like Slack, or you’ve used them before
- You’re excited about rolling up your sleeves & getting some real work done
- We’d love to hire someone who’s an organized, detailed-oriented, energized person coming from a different industry.
- Just one example that I’ve seen work well is former teachers who transition into being extremely effective EAs/office assistants
