Lead Engineer

The Flex Company is seeking a talented, full-time Engineering Lead to join our team and act as the technical lead for our frontend and backend web development. Reporting directly to our VP of Operations, this role will provide critical thought leadership and tactical execution to shape our product roadmap and ensure that our tech stack can scale with our growing business. Whether launching new products or site functionality, facilitating data tracking and A/B testing, or finding elegant solutions to refactor, this role will provide the technical leadership necessary to create a best in-class ecommerce experience for our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Act as technical lead to shape our product roadmap and provide critical input in the sizing, scoping, and prioritization of growth opportunities
• Manage a team of near-shore, full-stack developers, including assigning tickets, leading daily standups, performing QA and/or code review, and communicating business context for projects as needed
• Deploy simple, elegant code that supports a codebase that is clean and can scale with our business
• Explore technologies, apps, and integrations that enhance site performance, drive customer activation, and maximize the team's time and resources
• Support A/B testing and maintaining cross-domain tracking in a headless environment
• Troubleshoot errors quickly and identify opportunities to refactor or streamline
• Implement best practices with automated testing and documentation
• Liaise to provide technical guidance and expertise with cross-functional partners (e.g. Marketing, Creative, Supply Chain, Acquisition)
• Manage Shopify storefront backend and ensure that SKU creation and cross functional digital product setup and functionality is maintained for the company

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience as a frontend engineer, full-stack a plus
• Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails & MySQL is ideal
• Proficient in React.js, Next.js (or similar frontend language) and developing in a headless framework
• Experience managing a content management system (e.g. Contentful or similar CMS)
• Experience with Shopify, Recharge, and other key ecommerce tools and applications
• Experience with Asana or similar workflow management system
• Highly analytical (comfortable with Google Analytics, nuances of pixel management, and A/B testing best practices)
• Has managed competing priorities with cross functional stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Acquisition, Creative, Supply Chain) with tight deadlines
• Understands the importance of “why” as much as the “how”
