Infrastructure Engineer, Security Infrastructure

As an Infrastructure Engineer on the Security team, your work is not only impactful; it is critical to the long-term success of Stripe and Stripe's users. Our users trust us with some of their most sensitive information, and we make security a first-class consideration in everything we do.

Security Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for the architecture and development of frameworks, systems, and solutions to address current and future threats. The security concerns are ever-evolving, making the security team an extremely dynamic environment to work in.  

You will:

• Design, build, and maintain the core security infrastructure used by all of Stripe’s engineering teams
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
• Architect and develop solutions that will advance internal security monitoring & controls such self-service permissioning services, horizontal access control systems, Intrusion detection systems, etc.
• Make impactful decisions about systems and security — their edge cases, failure modes, and lifecycles
• Architect and build out solutions and frameworks that address current and future threats to Stripe's infrastructure

Our ideal candidate:

• Can write defensive, high-quality code that addresses real-world engineering and security problems
• Has software engineering experience in production environment
• Has Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Has a deep understanding of how the web works
• Has a knack for finding flaws in software and can effectively communicate how to fix them
• Has the ability to find creative ways of reducing risk of inherently insecure efforts
• Can think about problems from an out-of-the box perspective, doesn’t always default to industry norms
• Has strong communication skills and a natural inclination to collaborate

We contribute to existing open-source projects and the people working on them, and we release several tools as open-source.
