Head of Engineering

Pump is seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering to join our innovative team and lead our technical efforts in revolutionizing cloud cost optimization. As a Y Combinator-backed startup, we're on a mission to transform the status quo of cloud spend management using cutting-edge AI technology.

With cloud spend reaching $500 billion annually and becoming the fastest-growing expense for tech companies, our solution is more critical than ever.

The Role

As Head of Engineering at Pump, you'll be at the forefront of developing and implementing our AI-driven cloud cost optimization platform. You'll lead our engineering team in creating innovative solutions that tackle the complex challenges of cloud spend management.

Key Responsibilities

• Scale our engineering team from 5 to 30+ engineers - hiring, structuring the team to efficiency
• Drive the development of our AI-powered platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
• Collaborate with the founding team to shape and execute the technical vision and strategy, Work closely with product and business teams to align engineering efforts with company goals
• Manage and mentor a team of talented engineers
• Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry trends in cloud computing and AI

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 9-15 years of experience (graduated between 2010-2015)
• Strong backend and infrastructure expertise, with experience building end-to-end products used by 1000+ customers (Series A+ companies)
• Consumer background with a strong product focus
• Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and operations
• Experience as a CTO or leadership role in a company with $30M+ ARR
• Deep knowledge of AWS, GCP, Azure and cloud related technologies
• Extremely data-driven approach to decision-making
• Experience starting a company that had a successful exit is a significant plus

Qualifications

• Degree from a top-tier university in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with AI/ML technologies and their applications in cloud optimization
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges
• Experience with agile methodologies and modern software development practices
• Previous experience at FAANG or other Tier 1 tech companies is a plus
