The Head of Engineering is responsible for supporting the engineering efforts at Prenda. This includes creating a supportive and challenging environment where engineers can improve at their craft while producing mission critical and meaningful work. Prenda is on a north star mission to empower learners, meaning we will serve tens of thousands of students, their parents, and learning Guides through microschools all over the US. Technology is an essential part of this mission.
Multiple Platform Teams also report to the Head of Engineering. These teams help provide the infrastructure and support to make the Prenda software experience more dynamic, flexible, scalable and robust.
Responsibilities
Own the vision and strategy for engineering at Prenda and be accountable for its successful implementation.
Implement platforms, tools, and practices that will improve engineering efforts as well as serve the needs of the product experience teams and cross-functional squads.
Support engineers as they solve difficult problems on squads with product managers, designers, operations specialists, and others from across the company.
Provide coaching and mentorship to engineers to support their development and career progress.
Partner with Product, Customer Care, and Learning group leadership to build easy, engaging, exciting customer experiences that lead to retention and growth.

Experience
Extensive senior or principal level engineering experience.
Have scaled architecture in complex platform environments or codebases
Have implemented best practices, cultural norms, or routines that have improved engineering culture, happiness, and retention
Engineering leadership experience (led teams of 10+ engineers)
Experience in a rapidly scaling organization with complex engineering and architecture challenges with demonstrated success in leadership
