What we're looking for
Numeral is building a platform to fully automate state sales tax for e-commerce businesses. Prior experience in a related industry like e-commerce, sales tax, or accounting are a huge plus. Since we’re fully remote, we’re looking for self-starters: product engineers who can think through the full stack, put themselves in the shoes of our internal and external users, and deliver complete features. Grit will be one of your most important qualities - are you able to dive deep and keep digging until you find a solution? We are built on Ruby on Rails and are using Hotwire for our front-end code. Ideally this excites you!
Responsibilities
- Report directly to our CTO.
- Write product and technical specs.
- Collaborate daily with a team of 3 (and growing) product engineers
- Resolve support/operations requests on a day-to-day basis.
- Build new features, refactor existing code, fix bugs
- Review pull requests from your peers and offer kind feedback
- Balance speed and quality, with a focus on tangible results.
- Clearly communicate with non-technical stakeholders

About Us
Numeral is scratching an itch our founders Sam and Kevin (both e-commerce operators with > $10 million in revenue) had while running their business. State sales tax became an obligation for any e-commerce business selling across state lines in 2018. It’s a relatively new problem with few solutions in the space. We help our sellers identify when they must start reporting sales to each state, register them, continuously monitor their sales tax obligations, and report/remit their tax payments on a monthly basis. We are a fully remote team, with teammates in California (SF/LA), Atlanta, DC, and one in Calcutta.
