Moneytree is hiring our first technical member of the team - a Founding Engineer who can work up and down the tech stack as well as wear a second in a product role as necessary. As a new company with minimal tech debt and big ambitions, there will be many opportunities to hone your existing skills as well as explore new areas of technical and non-technical growth (product, business operations, management, etc.). Our focus is on building products to solve new real-world problems, always looking to solve problems efficiently and with an eye towards future extension.
The Founding Engineer will work closely with the CTO to design, build and iterate on many different product areas. Our products include client-facing applications for renters and property owners, business operations tooling, solar billing calculators, flow-of-funds services and more. The founding engineer will work across all of these product areas and contribute on front-end, backend and data applications, as well as taking an active role in product development. This will require talking to customers to understand pain points and desired product features as well as understanding Moneytree’s business and building tooling to support its operations.
While Moneytree is a solar and technology company, you do not need a prior background in solar nor specific experience across all aspects of Moneytree’s tech stack. We’re looking for empathetic, creative and tenacious problem solvers from any background to help us improve our engineering capacity as we continue to grow the company. As the first technical hire at our company, you’ll wear many hats, work on many projects and learn a lot! We’re happy to teach you what you don’t know - we’re looking for someone who can learn quickly and think critically about applying those lessons across many aspects of our business as well as help level up the rest of the team with your own unique skill-set and experiences.
MONEYTREE TECH STACK:
React, Node, Golang, Python, Postgres, Docker, AWS (ECS, RDS, Kinesis etc)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Build and maintain a variety of frontend and backend applications written in React, Node, Golang and Python utilizing AWS
-Take broad business and operations goals and turn them into functional products
-This may sometimes be fully technical such as scoping, designing, building and deploying a new application deployment architecture
-This may sometimes be operational and technical such as working with the operations team to understand pain points and building specific technical solutions for operational needs
-Speak with customers to design and iterate on products
-Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders including sales, product, and operations to build the right products for internal and external customers
REQUIREMENTS:
-Experience with one or more of the following: NodeJS, Reach, Golang
-Experience building products through the entire product lifecycle from initial design to building to deployment and maintenance
-3+ years of experience
-Highly agile mindset; ability to stay organized and excel in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments
-Willingness to roll up your sleeves and dive in
