We are hiring for this role in San Francisco (this is not a remote position)
Ciro processes billions of data points from dozens of public and proprietary sources to deliver near real-time updates to sales teams about their prospects. As a Founding Backend Engineer at Ciro, you will work closely with the founders to design and lead Ciro’s data product. You will see all parts of the business and shape Ciro’s culture from the earliest stages.
You will:
- Build high-performance data processing pipelines leveraging Python data science libraries, PostgreSQL, and distributed computing frameworks like Spark.
- Develop the standards and automated procedures for database and ETL design, including management, monitoring, upgrades, quality control, and maintenance.
- Work closely with the founders and early customers to set product and technical direction for the company.
- Play a lead role in defining Ciro’s engineering culture as we grow.
Sample projects you might work on:
- Build a pipeline to aggregate realtime events from business social media accounts and news APIs and push them to Ciro’s users.
- Design workflows and build data pipelines to seamlessly integrate data from Ciro’s human computation team with programmatic data sources.
- Design and build a machine learning model to predict whether data points from two disparate sources refer to the same underlying business.
Some of the skills we’re excited about:
- 5+ years of software backend/data engineering experience, including familiarity with data modeling, ETL, schema and system design, roadmap planning, batch processing, implementation, maintenance, and documentation.
- Productive, resourceful, and effective at problem-solving.
- Sound knowledge about database concepts such as transactions, indexing, concurrency.
- Strong product sense.
- Ability to balance effective execution with a high bar for engineering excellence.
