First Engineer

Byterat (YC W23) is hiring our first engineer! We are building data infrastructure for battery companies, helping them collect all their data in one place, analyze it, and accelerate their research with predictive ML. Our team comprises a PhD in battery modeling, an ex-Google[X] software engineer, and a faculty member from University of Cambridge.

Our tech stack:

• Django with heavy tasks offloaded to Lambda
• Next.js on TypeScript
• ML models built with Pytorch + scientific python libraries
• docker compose for local dev, CI/CD set up, per-engineer AWS accounts mirroring prod via Terraform

As the first engineer, you will thoughtfully design/implement cornerstones of the platform, spanning from the UX clients directly interact with, to the backend protocols for storing/propagating data, to the ML models that predict battery testing performance.

The ideal candidate may not be an expert on everything we do today, but will be a generalist with good taste and an appetite for learning new technologies.
