Design Engineer

OVERVIEW

As a Design Engineer, you'll work on the front end of our platforms and products to bring incredible user experiences to life. We're a unique group in the design team. Our work is challenging and always evolving to the needs of our fast-growing company. In a Design Engineering role, you'll need both design and technical skills, with a passion for both.

Our nimble team aims to drive business impact by delivering solutions to our most challenging customer and internal tooling problems. We do this by proactively identifying opportunities, innovating beyond iterative loops, cultivating design-forward collaboration, building fast, testing fast, and advocating for pixel-perfect design.

ABOUT MODERN TREASURY

Modern Treasury builds payment operations solutions- the workflows that move money for companies. This includes initiating transactions, processing approvals, and managing the problems and challenges that inevitably crop up. Our tools automate the full cycle of money movement—from payment initiation, through approvals, to reconciliation—and are accessible through web application or API.

YOU HAVE

• A passion for building user-centric digital products demonstrated in an exceptional portfolio.

• Strong design fundamentals including inclusive design principles and accessibility compliance.

• 5+ years of experience with the modern web development ecosystem (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node, etc.)

• Experience working with APIs, SaaS tools, and microservices.

• Experience with user-interface design and design systems.

• Experience building high-fidelity prototypes with developer tools and/or design applications (Web, Figma, Framer, etc.)

• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

• Strong knowledge of well-structured technical documentation and the ability to write documentation when needed.

• Experience with motion and complex animation is a plus.

YOU WILL

Some examples of projects you might work on:

• Leading the design and development of an experimental web-based financial tool to communicate our product offerings.
• Improving our foundational design system, building components, and testing them in production with customers.
• Identifying bottlenecks in our content marketing publishing process, documenting your findings, and presenting prototypes of potential solutions to our team.
• Supercharging our engineering efforts by building internal tools.
