As a Deployment Engineer at Heron, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our highest-value customers have a seamless experience with our product. You’ll guide prospects through their trial phase, ensuring smooth transitions as they become customers. Sitting at the nexus of customers, customer success, engineering, and product, your technical expertise will be instrumental in maximizing the value our customers derive from Heron Data. Additionally, you’ll be the primary liaison between our engineering team and prospective customers, influencing product development to address customer needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical expert for prospective and existing customers, ensuring they understand and maximize the value of Heron Data.
  • Identify pain points and needs of prospective customers, providing valuable insights to influence Heron’s product direction.
  • Take ownership of customer-facing interfaces such as tutorials and API documentation, streamlining implementation processes
  • Independently tackle complex technical challenges, prioritizing tasks based on impact and ambiguity.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Software engineers seeking exposure to customer-facing roles, sales, or customer success.
  • Individuals with an engineering background in finance or consulting looking to transition into the tech industry.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity for travel throughout the United States, allowing you to engage directly with our customers.  If you’re eager to explore new places and cultures while making meaningful connections with customers, this role is tailor-made for you.
  • Above all, we seek individuals with a growth mindset who are passionate about working with customers, embodying our commitment to being the face of Heron to new and trial customers.
    • Example outcomes: reduce default rates, scale underwriting volume.
    • Example challenges: help new customers onboard to Heron (work with existing stakeholders and technical systems), run a data science retrospective for customers, work the customer engineering teams to design implementation of Heron, build/improve basic features in the product.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background, with experience in software development.
    • Bonus: Familiarity with front-end development and API implementation
  • Effective communication skills for conveying technical concepts.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into manageable components.
  • Proven ability to work independently, organizing tasks and defining objectives without constant supervision.
  • Initiative-driven mindset, actively pursuing opportunities for improvement.

Additional Requirements:

  • Authorization to work in the United States and willingness to be based in New York City.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
