About Lago
Lago is an open source alternative to Stripe Billing and Chargebee. Our recent launch on Hacker News made the top 5 of the past 12 months, we’ve been Product of the day, and Product of the week of Product Hunt.

We built a custom billing system from scratch for Qonto.com, a 5x Fintech unicorn in Europe. That was not the best use of our engineers' time (it's complex to build and to maintain), but we felt 'trapped':
- We did not want to hack around Stripe Billing, or Chargebee, or any of the equivalents to customize it: our pricing was a mix of subscription-based and usage-based, and the existing tools were built for subscription-based businesses
- We did not want to leave precious % of revenue on the table. We resented their rent-seeker approach, and their closed architecture in general, with data being locked in another product. So we went for a home-made billing system, which was far from being perfect.
Lago aims at fixing this problem at scale, with an open architecture by design. We’re backed by top investors and founders from both sides of the Atlantic: San Francisco and NYC, and Europe.
The team and your role
We're a team of 10 today, and we're all about Product and Tech.
Go-to-Market is currently founder-led, by Raffi & Anh-Tho.
We are hiring our first business developers to support our growth.
If you’re always looking to push yourself out of your comfort zone, love closing deals, figuring things out and then scale them to switch to the next burning challenge, this is a great fit.
Our product has two sides:
- An API for engineers
- An intuitive no-code user interface for business users: Finance, Revenue, Customer Success teams
You don’t need to be an expert in any of these areas, but you need to be comfortable building relationships to bring value to each of these teams.
The person we are looking for
- A first experience in Sales: it doesn’t matter if it was for a student club or for a bake sale, but you love the thrill of chasing, pitching, and winning deals
- Fluent in English, bonus points if you speak French and Spanish
- A demonstrated intellectual curiosity, drive and impact in any other field than sales: a first entrepreneurial project, leading a student club, for instance
- You don't need to be a developer, but having attended coding bootcamp or an online coding course is a big plus
- A real appetite for the early stages of co-creating a product and shaping Lago's future
