Abatable’s mission is to enable corporate climate action by building the infrastructure for businesses and investors to navigate, access and support credible climate solutions delivering long-lasting positive environmental and social impact. The team is achieving this by backing innovative, high-quality carbon projects alongside leveraging a product-led approach to scaleable solutions.

Abatable was founded in July 2021 and we are backed by experienced investors such as Global Founders Capital, Blue Bear Capital and Y Combinator (S21).

About the role

This is a great opportunity to join an early-stage climate tech startup and learn a great deal about climate change and the carbon offsetting space. We’re looking to fill our first ever brand role, so we’re hoping you are a self-motivated, entrepreneurial designer who thrives in an early-stage startup setup, being hands-on and ready to bring the Abatable brand to life.

You’ll be joining Abatable at an exciting time, playing a defining role in shaping our brand identity, creating and evolving guidelines to achieve consistency across the various customer touchpoints. You’ll work in close collaboration with the Product Designer, Marketing Lead, the founders and other internal and external stakeholders to execute projects using a variety mediums and platforms.

Abatable is a B2B-focussed business operating in a relatively new, volatile and quickly growing voluntary carbon market. To be successful in this role will require building a good understanding of our customers and partners and their needs to clearly communicate our mission, what we do and how we help them.

What you’ll be doing

• Further developing the Abatable brand and visual identity
• Collaborating closely with the Product Designer in the team, ensuring that the visual brand identity is consistent across all touchpoints, products, marketing materials and services
• Supporting multiple teams across the business with various requirements by contributing ideas and creating various digital assets, including social media graphics, email newsletters, presentations, expert reports and landing pages.
• Owning our website’s design and visual identity and ensuring it communicates our services and approach
• Contributing to our design processes, our design system and improving scalability
• Manage freelance designers as needed and review work to provide guidance
• Building the identity of our employer branding to help us hire more awesome people

Who we’re looking for

• You have a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design skills and advanced level knowledge of design principles, including best practices using typography and colour
• You have a strong understanding of branding, marketing and customer behaviour being able to take into account the commercial aspect of your work
• You posses excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• You have a proven track record of independently leading large brand projects with little guidance
• You love your craft and pay high attention to quality while being able to ideate iteratively and support swift improvements
• You’ve previously worked in a startup or at an agency supporting startups
• You’re experienced with industry-standard design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
• You must be eligible to work in the UK, as we are unable to sponsor a visa at this time

Good to have

• You have previous experience working in climate or sustainability related fields
• You have a design or technical degree
• Illustration, animation and video editing experience is desirable
