Research Associate

About the role As a Research Associate you will hold a variety of responsibilities including genome engineering, bacterial culture, cell culture, PCR and sequencing to name a few. You will do the hands on work and complete the follow up analysis and present results in weekly meetings. You will work closely with our Lead Scientist in developing new protocols and establishing lab organization.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently maintain cell lines for research projects and biomanufacturing.
• Independently execute R&D projects. This includes developing the work plan, completing the tasks, collecting and analyzing the data and presenting the findings.
• Support the engineering of synthetic viruses as precision cancer therapies through transfection, amplification and validation (PCR and NGS).
• Improve our knowledge of cancer cells by conducting qPCR, flow cytometry, live-cell imaging, and more.
• Maintain inventory and catalog new items to determine usage.
• Perform routine technical tasks and assist in the general maintenance of the lab.

Requirements

• Ideally you have a PhD in Biology, Biomedical Engineering or Biotechnology.
• 3+ years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.
• First-hand experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
• Affinity for bioinformatics.
• Prior experience in synthetic biology or virology is a plus.
