About the Role
You will be one of the earliest engineers hired at The Third Place, giving you the chance to both build critical internal infrastructure as well as create incredible customer experiences. You’ll be collaborating closely with the founders to prototype new product features as well as architect and grow The Third Place’s technology.
You’ll be the expert of the tech stack, and help set the foundations of our engineering culture through your actions in your role, and your mentorship towards others.

The Details We Love To See
- Details and polish matter to you. You enjoy tweaking a layout, an animation, a sentence or an interaction until it feels just right.
- You are comfortable working with medium-fidelity designs, and can use your best judgment to fill in the blanks.
- You enjoy holding complexity in your head, and navigating to solutions involving many moving pieces.
- You value an iterative process to continuously improve code and product, and try to combat ego or past effort as reasons to hold on to things for too long.
- You like unit tests and want to see more of them.
- You have experience building highly-trafficked, consumer-facing applications.
Nice-to-haves
- You have worked with GraphQL before, e.g. designed a GraphQL schema.
- You have experience in one of or both native Android and iOS development.
- You have experience in one or more of: optimization and combinatorics, architecting content-management systems, or real-time messaging.
