Indonesia’s revocation from developing country status will make the country no longer eligible to receive Special Differential Treatment (SDT) from the WTO’s Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures.

Analysts said the US is doing this to make it easier for them to apply anti-dumping duties or countervailing duties (CVD), so Donald Trump can charge more from Chinese goods.

Besides Indonesia, some other countries that were originally on the list of developing countries such as China, Brazil, India, and South Africa are now considered as developed countries.

The USTR considers countries with a share of 0.5 percent or more of world trade to be "developed" countries.

“We will receive fewer facilities and benefits as we’re no longer recognized as a developing country. However, we’re not worried about that,” Indonesia’s Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said.
